An artisinal cocktail book by two best friends and the entrepreneurs who invented the The Mason Shaker cocktail shaker and whose mission is to bring cocktail crafting out of the bar and into the home. Design, cocktail, and culinary enthusiasts Eric Prum and Josh Williams realized that while cocktail bars have sprouted up just about everywhere, good drinks still couldn't be found in the one place where they always mixed them: at home with friends. So, from their Brooklyn workshop, where they designed, created, and launched The Mason Shaker, a now-iconic invention that transformed a Mason jar into a cocktail shaker, they also created Shake. One part instructional recipe book and one part photo journey through their year of cocktail crafting, the book is a simple and inspirational expression of their seasonal, straightforward approach to drinks and entertaining: Mixing cocktails should be simple, social, and above all, fun. Each recipe is presented visually, in four color photos, as well as in written recipes, making Shake both an arresting gift and a practical guidebook to simple, elegant cocktails.

From the authors of Shake: A New Perspective on Cocktails comes Infuse, a recipe book filled with fresh and flavorful oil, spirit, and water infusions. Authors Eric Prum and Josh Williams’ passion for infusing oils, spirits and waters began one summer nearly a decade ago when the two first made peach-infused bourbon. They were awestruck. The seemingly simple process of adding fresh, local peaches to a Mason jar of Kentucky Bourbon, and infusing the mixture for a handful of weeks had somehow resulted in something so much greater than the sum of its parts. In Infuse the authors share not only their favorite infusion recipes, but also how to use them in food and cocktails, like a spicy chili oil added to a grilled pizza bianca or a hot toddy spiked with the peach bourbon that started it all years ago. With more than 50 recipes for infusing oils, spirits and waters, Infuse provides instructions, quick tips and plenty of inspiration for how you can make delicious infusions part of your everyday. Utopia And Terror In Contemporary American Fiction

Author: Judie Newman
Editor: Routledge
ISBN: 1136774807

This book examines the quest for/failure of Utopia across a range of contemporary American/transnational fictions in relation to terror and globalization through authors such as Susan Choi, André Dubus, Dalia Sofer, and John Updike. While recent critical thinkers have reengaged with Utopia, the possibility of terror — whether state or non-state, external or homegrown — shadows Utopian imaginings. Terror and Utopia are linked in fiction through the exploration of the commodification of affect, a phenomenon of a globalized world in which feelings are managed, homogenized across cultures, exaggerated, or expunged according to a dominant model. Narrative approaches to the terrorist offer a means to investigate the ways in which fiction can resist commodification of affect, and maintain a reasoned but imaginative vision of possibilities for human community. Newman explores topics such as the first American bestseller with a Muslim protagonist, the links between writer and terrorist, the work of Iranian-Jewish Americans, and the relation of race and religion to Utopian thought.

Mount Rushmore S Legacy

The legacy of Mount Rushmore is and will always be the contributions to America of the four great men encased in that mountain’s granite – Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt. However, imagine if these American icons could mysteriously come alive, and travel through today’s Middle America to view and hear the country’s moods and problems. This story then gives them the privilege of presenting their observations and wisdom to a joint session of Congress. They preach common sense, integrity, fiscal solutions and cooperation to the current Congress, a Congress that many consider to be totally dysfunctional. Each president is given a new identity and they travel incognito through countryside and city, experiencing emotional encounters and humorous scenes. They each visit their family homes and relate some unique American history to their escorting hosts, for instance, George Washington to Mount Vernon and Jefferson at Monticello. A concurrent story thread involves the Sioux Indian Nation and their ongoing attempt to regain ownership of the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore. This book is admittedly surreal, but is intended to entertain while emphasizing the need to retain Constitutional Law, protect our precious American freedoms and honor the traditional pursuit of life, liberty and happiness in a society that seems to be more contentious than it need be, much more divided than it should be. No one book can change the future, but it can try.
