Towering above its island of wave-lashed rock is Castello di Scogliera. Look up at the narrow windows, and you might think yourself watched. Something, or someone, has been waiting for Lady McCaulay to arrive… What dark secrets lie within those walls? Madness, abduction, imprisonment... murder? The past does not lie quietly. A sumptuous Gothic Romance, filled with mystery, intrigue, and the lure of the sensuous, from the pen of Emmanuelle de Maupassant. Italian Sonata is the second volume in the Noire trilogy.

In The Gentlemen's Club, Gary Douglas, the founder of Access Consciousness(r), and a diverse group of men talk candidly about women, relationships, sex, sexual energy, masturbation, and being a man in this reality. Their wide-ranging conversations are in turn, funny, moving, outrageous, raunchy, and profound. Douglas offers ground-breaking Access Consciousness tools and processes, insightful revelations, and incredible information about how talk to a woman, how to stimulate her body, how to create orgasms by expansion rather than contraction, and how to create sex and relationship from an awareness of what is rather than a fixed point of view about what they are supposed to be. Speaking of relationships, he says, "Sometimes people say to me, 'You don't like relationships.' No. It's that I don't like bad relationships. I see no reason for there to ever be a bad relationship. If you have a relationship, it should be something that adds to your life and makes it greater and better and more fun. If a relationship doesn't do that, why be in one?" Douglas also talks about trusting yourself as a man, creating a sense of partnership with other men, and discovering what it is that would make you thrilled with your life. Praise from Gentlemen's Club Participant: "I'm so grateful for The Gentlemen's Club. For the first time in my life, I'm happy about being a man and being in a man's body." Praise from Gentlemen's Club Participant's wife: "Thank you so much for doing these classes. I've got back the man that I fell in love with.&quo

Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) is one of the most important developments in modern European politics. Building on two decades of monetary integration it transfers monetary policy, a core function of the modern state, to an independent European Central Bank (ECB) and limits member states' fiscal policy discretion. The ECB insists that growth and employment depend on 'flexibilizing' Europe's labor markets through deep reforms of the social policies and employment relations which comprise the 'European social model'. Member states retain authority over these areas at the heart of national politics, but how will EMU affect the domestic politics of institutional change? Will EMU reinforce de-regulation and retrenchment or will it facilitate reforms that maintain the protections against economic insecurity, inequality, and unilateral employer power the European model has provided? To address these questions, a transatlantic team of leading experts analyzes the evolving tensions between monetary integration and national social policies.

Voices of Italian America presents the first authoritative study and anthology of the largely Italian-language literature written and published in the U.S. from the heydays of the Great Migration (1880-1920) to the almost definitive demise of the cultural world of the first generation soon before and after WWII. The volume resurrects the neglected and even forgotten territory of a nation-wide "Little Italy" where people wrote, talked, read, and consumed the various forms of entertainment mostly in their native Italian language, in a complex interplay with native dialects and surrounding American English. In the anthological sections we read, among others, excerpts from the ethnically-tinged thrillers by Tuscan-born first-comer Bernardino Ciambelli, as well as the first short-stories by Italian American women, set in the Gilded Age. The fiction of political activists such as Carlo Tresca coexists with the hard-boiled autobiography of Italian American cop Mike Fiaschetti, fighting against the Mafia. Voices presents new material by English-speaking classics such as Pietro di Donato and John Fante, and a selection of poetry by a great bilingual voice, the champion of the masses and IWW poet Arturo Giovannitti, and by a lesser-known, self-taught, satyrical versifier, Riccardo Cordiferro/Ironheart. Controversial documents on the difficult interracial relations between Italian- and African Americans live side by side with the first poignant chronicles from Ellis Island. The goal of this study is to shed light on the "fabrication" of a new culture of immigrant origins pliable, dynamic, constantly shifting and transforming itself and to do that focusing on stories, genres, rhythms, the"human touch" contributed by literature in its wider sense. Ultimately, through a rich sample of significant texts covering various aspects of the immigrant experience, Voices offers the reader a literary history of Italian American culture. It lets American readers be acquainted with a history very ideologically and artistically diverse, issued from a collective experience full, at the same time, with tragedy and fun. Such a literature is an eye-opening testimony of what happens to a culture when it migrates, and of how, in what form, both linguistically and rhetorically, it expresses itself, in the long and often unnoticed way toward assimilation.
