"Beautifully mixes Georgette Heyer with Victoria Holt...[a] heartbreaker of a novel that sinks its claws right into you, then kisses the wound it leaves behind."-All About Romance (Desert Isle Keeper) A USA TODAY BESTSELLER She Needed A Husband... It's been three years since Laura Hayes's father died, leaving her and her invalid brother to subsist on the income from the family's failing perfume business. But time is swiftly running out. What she needs is a husband, and fast. A noble gentleman who can rescue them all from penury. When a mysterious stranger arrives in the village, he seems a perfect candidate. But Alex Archer is no hero. In fact, he just might be the opposite. He Wanted a Fortune... Alex has no tolerance for sentiment. He's returned to England for one reason only: to find a wealthy wife. A country-bred heiress in Surrey seems the perfect target. But somewhere between the village railway station and the manor house his mercenary plan begins to unravel. And it's all the fault of Laura Hayes--a lady as unsuitable as she is enchanting. From the beaches of Margate to the lavender fields of Provence, a grudging friendship slowly blossoms into something more. But when scandal threatens, can a man who has spent his entire life playing the villain, finally become a hero? Or will the lure of easy riches once again outweigh the demands of his heart?

A young lady makes an outrageous deal with a very handsome devil in this sexy debut romance set in Georgian Era London and Scotland. An independent young woman of means, Miss Hannah Howard is as stubborn as she is beautiful. After she moves to London for her first season among the ton, she immediately finds herself in a heated dispute with her neighbor, the ill-mannered Gavan Dalreoch, Earl of Rhone. Giving the Earl a black eye is a lapse in judgment—even though the Scottish scoundrel deserved it. Now with her reputation in jeopardy, her only hope for saving face is the man whose face she bruised. Gavan is content to live up to his rakish reputation, but with family pressuring him to marry, he and Hannah agree to get engaged just long enough to appear respectable. Yet as the charade continues with stolen kisses and a trip to Gavan's Scottish castle, Gavan and Hannah discover that their false engagement may be more real than they imagined. Includes a preview of the second Countess Scandals novel, A Dangerous Damsel “A Convenient Engagement is a charming, hilarious, and engaging read, and best of all, full of handsome Highlanders!”—New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Ashley

"Death studies have, over the last twenty years, witnessed a flourishing of research and scholarship particularly in areas such as dying and bereavement, cultural practices and fear of dying. But, despite its importance, a specific focus on the nature of personal mortality has attracted surprisingly little attention. This book breaks new ground by bringing together available ideas and research on the meaning of one's own death. Its content is organized around the question of how an ongoing relationship might be possible when the threat of consciousness coming to an end points to an unthinkable and unspeakable nothingness. The book then argues that, despite this threat, an ongoing relationship with one's own death is still possible by means of conceptual devices that help shape personal mortality into a relatable object. Four of these devices, or 'enabling frames', are examined: essential structures, passionate suffusion, point-of-transition and self-generative process. While each frame conceptualizes mortality differently, they share a capacity to move it from unintelligibility to something we can think and speak about, thereby enabling us to maintain an ongoing engagement. The final chapters explore ways in which pursuing a relationship with our own deaths could become a normal and acceptable activity throughout our lives"--

The field of psychotherapy is filled with theories, from theories of personality to those of psychopathology, psychodynamic theories to cognitive and humanistic theories. Based on the philosophy of science, this volume introduces different models as alternatives to theories of psychotherapy. While models are common in other fields, they are essentially unknown in psychotherapeutic practice and research. This revolutionary volume introduces a new era, and a change in thinking by comparing different models with theories, and by showing their respective strengths and weaknesses, the ways in which models are superior to theories, by highlighting the preferential features of models over theories, and by showing how the paradigm-shift to models can have powerful implications for the whole field of psychotherapy. This brief volume is for everyone who can be affected by this revolutionary shift, including practitioners of almost every approach, working with almost every clientele. Students and teachers of psychotherapy, and to all those interested in psychology, psychiatry, nursing, rehabilitation, and counselling will find this book gives a new and refreshing look at approaches to psychotherapy.
