Ezekiel ex-preacher and Vietnam vet struggles to overcome the post- traumatic effects of war. Seeking to find a meaning to his life, he becomes a disciple of a charismatic spiritual master but abandons him to find peace and spiritual enlightenment alone. In doing this, he also abandons his wife and son both of whom love him dearly. Since this love can be a distraction in Ezekiel's quest, he rejects their love ... a love which he must eventually come to terms with. Years pass. Ezekiel's son sets out to find him in order to reunite his parents. He traces Ezekiel to an ocean front residence in Florida. Ezekiel has found some peace here, and the encounter with his son only threatens to tear him away from the quest he so ardently seeks. Finally, Ezekiel must confront the daunting truth about his quest - a quest in which there are valuable lessons to be learned through suffering and self-sacrifice. Aubrey Wharton was born in Guyana, South America, and moved to New York in l968. He attended City and Hunter Colleges and earned degrees in both the arts and science. His degree in English with emphasis on creative writing allowed him to write several plays, most notably "A Different Lifestyle" and "Vietnam Blues," which were produced off-Broadway (l988). When not writing, Aubrey uses his degree in science to work as a Registered Nurse RN. An avid practitioner of yoga, he became a disciple of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, a renowned teacher of the science of Bhakti Yoga, and traveled to India several times for long periods in order to deepen his consciousness in this science. It is his practice of meditation which has influenced his present novel, "Ezekiel by the Sea."

1969 was a pivotal year for the Wentworth-By-The-Sea grand hotel that dominated the Portsmouth, NH seacoast since the turn of the century. It was the end of an era when patrons stayed for the entire summer, crystal fingerbowls were expected and the James Barkers Smiths personally attended to the needs of their guests. This book is written from the point of view of a waitress who observed 1969 from "the back of the house". It describes the inner workings of the kitchens and dining rooms, the employee subculture and captures a moment in time. 1969 was the year of Woodstock, and The First Man on The Moon, and Chappaquidick. There are local legends, the music of the day, a love story and a cast of colorful characters. And if you happened to have been there in 1969 and think a particular fictional character sounds familiar -- it probably is.

This slender volume of poems encompasses ten years of hope, despair, joy, sadness, jubilation, despondence as well as forty years of intense love and companionship and then... the deeply saddening knowledge of a last goodbye -- all too soon. Nevertheless, the author proves that farewell does not at all times mean pain, but sheer happiness as the memories are brought back, sending spirals of various emotions to ones heart. This is the book of all times... It will be loved by many and will be read over and over again.

Many Were Held by the Sea tells the story of the crash of HMS Otranto and HMS Kashmir off the coast of Scotland near the end of World War I. The two ships, former British passenger liners from the P&O Steamship Company, collided while ferrying hundreds of American soldiers from New York to various British ports. The narrative details the courage of the young men on board and the anguish of their relatives on the home front, ultimately building up to the disastrous conclusion.
