Greg Whyte learnt from an early age that the biggest obstacle in life was people telling him 'No, you can't'. But we all have the ability to achieve what others may tell you is impossible. Don't listen to them. Success is not a chance event. With proper planning, preparation and vision, Professor Whyte has the knowledge and methods that can turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, mortals into elite athletes, to deliver not dream. Using the examples of iconic Comic Relief and Sport Relief challenges achieved by the likes of David Walliams, Eddie Izzard, John Bishop and Davina McCall under his guidance, Greg Whyte shows that anyone can do anything. With expert but simple to understand advice, useful diagrams and structured tasks, he demonstrates how this applies in life, from losing weight to reducing anxiety, in business, through maximising potential and core principles of management, and to sport, whether it be a 10k run or the ultimate endurance challenge. So don't take no for an answer. By making the impossible possible, this book is the blueprint for success in life. www.achievetheimpossible.co.uk

For more than 20 years I worked in Corporate America, progressing from an entry level Administrative Assistant role supporting both individuals and groups, to an Executive Assistant role supporting a VP level executive in a fortune 100 company. Later I supported a C-level executive within an international company that pioneered groundbreaking medical technology, then moving on to providing administrative and personal support for a private individual who traveled and spoke extensively conducting business both nationally and internationally, to filling a Chief of Staff role with an international firm spinning off two additional completely diverse businesses. Along the way I picked up a few tricks. Those tricks made me more productive and allowed me to mentor others as well as complete projects in less than six months that others had been working on for over two years with no forward momentum. I accomplished what others thought to be impossible. This is not your regular run of the mill "how to book". In fact, I'd prefer not to think of this as a "how to book" but rather a conversation between friends about what works for me and may be food for thought for you.Grab a cup of coffee, or your favorite beverage and let's settle in for a conversation, a sharing between friends.

Over the past decade, the Diageo North America Corporate Relations team has been the driving force in the transformation of the place of distilled spirits in American society - a transformation that many in the industry considered an impossible task. This book tells the story of how our team accomplished the impossible. It begins with the team's leader, Guy Smith, explaining our origin and accomplishments, and describing The Seven Guideposts to Achieving the Impossible, which the team members exemplified by achieving remarkable results for Diageo and in their own lives. These stirring and engaging stories will help managers, leaders and executives inspire their teams and their organizations, and move their businesses forward beyond all expectations, by helping them and their teams connect to experiences in their own lives that show that they have already accomplished the impossible. Note: All proceeds from the book will be donated to the Spirit of the Americas Foundation.

The Redress Movement refers to efforts to obtain the restitution of civil rights, an apology, and/or monetary compensation from the U.S. government during the six decades that followed the World War II mass removal and confinement of Japanese Americans. Early campaigns emphasized the violation of constitutional rights, lost property, and the repeal of anti-Japanese legislation. 1960s activists linked the wartime detention camps to contemporary racist and colonial policies. In the late 1970s three organizations pursued redress in court and in Congress, culminating in the passage of the Civil Liberties Act of 1988, providing a national apology and individual payments of $20,000 to surviving detainees.

People work in teams for a reason. Whether they are volunteering on a cause that they feel strongly about or, assigned to a team, they all want to feel that their time has been well spent. Following the guidelines to achieve the status of a Blue Ribbon Team, will maximize the impact of your group as well as encourage participation and fun along the way. Not every team will be able to achieve every goal outlined in this book. The more goals your team can fulfill the more effective performance of your team. We recommend that your team members complete the baseline evaluation located in the appendix to start a baseline score for your team. You can then measure your progress incrementally until your team becomes a Blue Ribbon Team. If you are looking for a book that you can hand off to your teams/committee leads and have them drive their own changes, this is your book. Consider a work session with your team leaders and use this book as the driving content and how they will implement in their areas.
