Have you ever wished that you could garden and farm, but found that you didn't have the space to do so? Did you ever feel like you wanted to be able to grow your own food, but felt like the climate that you lived in was all wrong? Did you think that maybe, you didn't have the time to keep everything alive? Well, think again--you can not only grow your own garden, but you can also farm your own fish, and you can do it all within a single system. Aquaponics is the cultivation of fish and plants using symbiosis to keep them both alive. The fish produce waste, which gets converted by bacteria into the nutrients that plants need to survive. Those nutrients get taken in by the plants, giving them everything that they will need to grow while also cleaning out the water that the fish are living in. It works both ways--the fish's home stays clean, and the plant is kept well-nourished. This symbiotic relationship is used heavily in the aquaponic setting. In these setups, the fish are in one system, usually grown to farm as food as well. They are kept in what is known as a rearing tank, which keeps them all together and away from damaging the roots. The plants are then kept in a hydroponic build--a setup that allows them to grow entirely soil-free. You can grow this with ease, and doing so will help create larger yields than you thought was possible. Within this book, you will be introduced to this concept and how to make it your own. You will learn how to balance the needs of your fish and plants to keep them both alive and healthy, and you will be guided through how to begin farming your own with ease. In particular, you will find: Why you should begin using an aquaponic system How fish and plants can keep each other alive through the nitrogen cycle, and what that nitrogen cycle has to do with aquaponics A list of all of the supplies and components that you are likely to require How to build an aquaponic setup How to keep your fish alive and take care of them How to keep and care for your plants Finding that balancing point between fish and plant to ensure perfect parameters A list of several common plants that are great for beginners A list of several common fish that are great for beginners A guide to the common problems your system will face How to troubleshoot your system Beginner's mistakes that you can avoid to up your chances of success AND MORE Do you wish that you could grow your own plants the way that you want to without having to worry about unpredictable weather, disease, or weeds? Innovation In Agriculture The Potential Challenges And Adoption And Diffusion Of Aquaponics And Agricultural Mobile Phone Application In Kenya

Population growth and growing agricultural challenges necessitate the adoption of intensive and resource-efficient farming methods in Kenya. Following a case-study research approach, technical and economic feasibility of aquaponics as a locally suitable innovation, and mobile phone applications (“apps”) as an information diffusion tool were conducted. The research proves that aquaponics systems can be built with locally available production materials; that its production outperforms in-soil production for the chosen crop, and that farmers can successfully operate such a system when given training and support. However, considerable practical challenges, important cultural factors and a missing information and input network, render it unlikely that this production method will be taken up by many farmers in Kenya within the next decade. Mobile phone applications are a growing service sector, due to widespread mobile phone ownership and high cultural acceptance. In order to test if agricultural apps can be used as an information dissemination tool, an app for the aquaculture sector was built and tested with fish farmers in Kakamega County. The results show that while the farmers valued the information service provided, apps are not suitable to be used as a sole information medium, as direct contact and practical training are vital within the African culture. However, apps and digital platforms are very likely to increase in relevance in the near future, as the younger generations in particular use Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and as ICT services will ease the bottlenecks in the various value chains.

have been following this title a lot, sometimes I had to go back to zero in my Aquaponics, but the main reason was not problems in Aquaponics but because of my profession. I am an Aquaponic lover, but my professional background is Systems Analyst / Accounting. I manage an internet provider where I currently live, I also provide local and web systems development services and sometimes I receive proposals that make me change cities. My last city was in Estiva Gerbi, today I live in Mogi Mirim - SP. At Estiva Gerbi I had the opportunity to always be surrounded by a lot of space for my Aquaponic experiments, which gave me some experience in the area. Moving to Mogim Mirim - SP, (Estiva Gerbi is also São Paulo I forgot to inform) I came across a problem that should affect a good part of people, I don t have a yard so I can install my water tanks, pipes, my pots and many other things. If you follow my channel on Facebook or Youtube, Aquaponia Renaldo Ramos will see the amount of junk that I had, I got rid of all the equipment.
