A mapping study revealed quantitative trait loci for metabolic enzyme activities, metabolite storage, metabolic rate and flight performance in D. melanogaster. Trans-acting genomic regions were an important source of variation in glycolytic enzyme activities. Epistasis affected enzyme activities, metabolite storage, respiration and flight. I identified a genomic region that potentially co-regulates enzymes flanking a glycolytic branchpoint with effects on organismal performance.
