The morning after - the drilling headache, the waves of nausea, the paranoia, the guilt, the shame - yes, it's the dreaded HANGOVER. We are all familiar with the general misery. What are less well known are the nuances of the hungover states. According to P.G. Wodehouse there are six different types of hangover that can bring the high-spirited reveller to his or her knees, and each requires a very specific remedy. The Hungover Cookbook is a witty self-help manual that helps the morning after drinker to identify the nature of your hangover and tailor the treatment accordingly. With delicious and restorative recipes - from Milton's zingy knickerbocker glory to his irresistible tahini and tomato toast, the English Breakfast tortilla to Mexican ranch-style eggs - The Hungover Cookbook invites you to transform dealing with a hangover into a subtle, multi-faceted and enjoyable art instead of merely chucking a 'full English' at it.

Just like death and taxes, hangovers are simply one of life's certainties. There exists infinite hangover 'cures', including raw egg, sports drinks and even rubbing lemon in your armpits. Some heretics suggest simply avoiding alcohol altogether. There is only one known relief from a chronic hangover: food. This ridiculous cookbook showcases the very guiltiest of pleasures. A dank mac and cheese might not make your headache disappear, but it will certainly aide a tender state of mind and empower you to face the outside world. But who even needs the outside world when you can just make your own bacon hash? Or post-lit schnit(zel)? Or a french fry curry?? What sets The I'm So Hungover Cookbook apart from the glut of 'dude food' guides is it's structure. Each of its four chapters correspond to the exact severity of one's hangover - from 'Chapter 1: Shaky, But Standing' to 'Chapter 4: Beyond Salvation'. Plus, because each of these 40 recipes are administered for medicinal purposes, the calories really don't matter. Right?

All too often we cave in to the booze munchies and settle for kerbside cheesy chips or a dreadful doner kebab. There is another way. A better way. Unlike driving, texting and neurosurgery, cooking can be improved by a drinking session. This book offers delicious recipes tailored to your level of tipsiness and perfect for soaking up the worst of it. Spicy Thai-style pork burgers, a quick couscous chicken biryani or authentic smoky burritos can be delectable and, more importantly, achievable with THE DRUNKEN COOKBOOK in hand.

Others will make use of traditional pantry staples and leftover classics to whip up dishes on the fly, like Bacon Kimchi Fried Rice. Gui de Angulo brings together in this book the complete Taos papers of the legendary linguist, Jaime de Angulo, which tell the story of his life in the 1920s Taos where he stayed with Mabel Dodge and her Indian husband Tony Luhan. Told with the anthropologist's keen eye for social detail, it is a true story about the interconnecting worlds of Indians, social scientists, writers and bohemians. Angulo wanted to learn more about the religious philosophy and customs of the Taos and other pueblo Indians and to record their languages. He gives vivid impressions of pueblo life, comparing their culture with that of the Achumawi, the California Indians with whom he had lived. His journals and letters reveal much about that anguished time when Burke, controversial chief of the Bureau of Indian affairs, was trying to outlaw ceremonials, while anthropologists and others were rallying to their defense. Here too is the story of Angulo's part in bringing Carl Jung to America to meet the Indians, whom Jung felt could help him in the development of his psychoanalytic theory. Angulo's observations of D.H. Lawrence are astute, and often humorous. He sometimes found Lawrence "deep and keen and delightful," but at other times "ridiculous as only an Englishman can be ridiculous." Included in these papers is The Witch, a romantic, gothic novella set in Big Sur, which Angulo wrote on the first Taos visit and read aloud one evening to Lawrence, the Luhans and their friends--to a not unmixed response.
