Hilarious Second Chance at Love... The last person Maddy Kelly expects to show up at her mountain cabin for the holidays is her soon-to-be ex-husband, who was always too busy to enjoy their hideaway. Following doctor's orders to reduce stress, Michael arrives at their remote cabin, unannounced and unexpected, in the dead of night, during a snow storm. Which is why Maddy greets him with a fire poker to the head, rendering him unconscious, and with a case of temporary amnesia. As his memory returns, Michael realizes how much he loves his wife, and is willing to do anything to get her back, even if it means pretending to still have amnesia. Add to the mix Michael's mischievous 13-year-old nephew, who has stowed away in Michael's car, and Maddy's two dachshunds Rambo and Muffin, who take an instant disliking to Michael, and you have a laugh-out-loud recipe for a romantic romp.

The case for marriage equality and monogamy in a democratic society The institution of marriage stands at a critical juncture. As gay marriage equality gains acceptance in law and public opinion, questions abound regarding marriage's future. Will same-sex marriage lead to more radical marriage reform? Should it? Antonin Scalia and many others on the right warn of a slippery slope from same-sex marriage toward polygamy, adult incest, and the dissolution of marriage as we know it. Equally, many academics, activists, and intellectuals on the left contend that there is no place for monogamous marriage as a special status defined by law. Just Married demonstrates that both sides are wrong: the same principles of democratic justice that demand marriage equality for same-sex couples also lend support to monogamous marriage. Stephen Macedo displays the groundlessness of arguments against same-sex marriage and defends marriage as a public institution against those who would eliminate its special status or supplant it with private arrangements. Arguing that monogamy reflects and cultivates our most basic democratic values, Macedo opposes the legal recognition of polygamy, but agrees with progressives that public policies should do more to support nontraditional caring and caregiving relationships. Throughout, Macedo explores the meaning of contemporary marriage and the reasons for its fragility and its enduring significance. His defense of reformed marriage against slippery slope alarmists on the right, and radical critics of marriage on the left, vindicates the justice and common sense of the emerging consensus. Casting new light on today's debates over the future of marriage, Just Married lays the groundwork for a stronger institution.

It is said that every life has a story and every story has a lesson. Forever Just Married is the story of a young man and woman who fell madly in love the first time they met and parlayed the initial fireworks into an amazing 55+ year relationship overcoming betrayal, heartbreak and deception. The result is a unique coupling of two strong willed, independent people who grew both individually and together because of one important decision they made along the way: We will give in but we will never give up. Both agree they have been divorced and remarried many times but always to the same person. The story traces the amazing journey of Marilyn and Kent Pelz, from their initial blind date in 1961 in Mission Hills, Kansas, to their 30-year stint in one house overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Malibu, California, to their current lives as minister and spiritual counselors in San Jose. In this book, Kent and Marilyn reveal the major challenges they faced, how they overcame these challenges, and the lessons they learned about how to create a workable and sustainable relationship with each other and others. Forever Just Married is a chronological overview of the authors married life. They highlight a particular struggle or unconscious behavior that played out over their lifetimes and how they overcame it and the lessons they learned. They offer suggested exercises that the reader and his/her partner can utilize to fully benefit from the authors life experiences.
