Catherine Ling is one of the CIA's most prized operatives. Raised on the unforgiving streets of Hong Kong, she was pulled into the agency at the age of fourteen, already having accumulated more insight and secrets than the most seasoned professionals in her world. If life has taught her anything, it is not to get attached, but there are two exceptions to that rule: her son Luke and her mentor Hu Chang. When Luke was kidnapped at the age of two, it nearly broke her. Now, nine years later, her son has astonishingly been returned to her and Catherine vows never to fail him again. But when her job pulls her away from home, she relies on the brilliant and deadly Hu Chang to safeguard Luke in her absence. Erin Sullivan, an American journalist with mysterious ties to Hu Chang, has been kidnapped in Tibet. If Catherine doesn't agree to spearhead the CIA rescue mission, she knows that Hu Chang himself will go, a possibility she can't risk. But she will be facing a monster whose crimes stretch back forty years, always eluding the CIA. The job grows even more complicated when Catherine meets Richard Cameron, a supposed ally who's clearly not telling all he knows. Their attraction is immediate, but Catherine isn't at all sure that he can be trusted. If she's going to rescue this journalist with a story worth killing for, she'll need to keep Cameron very close. From the treacherous landscape of the Himalayas to the twisting back alleys of San Francisco, the clock is ticking for Catherine and those she loves most. At every turn she faces a ruthless enemy who is determined to keep the truth buried, even if it means that none of them live to see tomorrow, in this New York Times bestselling novel from Iris Johansen.

Ruthie often traveled on the subway with her best friend Jem from the church where they attend often. She told me that the pastor had brainwashed her. When the abused came to light to her pastor, he called her stepfather and setup a counsel session for him but not for Ruthie. Often times, Ruthie traveled on the subway with her friend Jem, and they discussed their abuses as Jem was abused also. They share many interests in life. Ruthie said thoughts of jumping across the train tracks often crossed her mind. Jem talked her down at times. One night, she came home and had me cornered in my bedroom with her eyes blazing with fire as she sat me on the bed and yelled at me, Why didnt you come over to my house and save me from the abuse? I was waiting for someone to save me. I can still smell the scent of Jason on me. Night after night and Sunday after Sunday, when he came home from church, he had me as his sex slave. Grandma you said you felt in your mind something was not right, so why didnt you come and kick the door down and find out what was going on? But, my dear, I did call the Childrens Aid. I told them what you said, that you were sleeping in the closet at one time, and they came and visited. They called me and told me all was good in the home. There was nothing else I could have done. She left that night with her friend, and three days later, I heard from her that she is in British Colombia. They took the bus. She said if she hadnt left the province, she would have jumped the subway track. As you know, Joanna, there is a finished rooftop on my building. Many times, whenever Ruthie comes home, she would go to the rooftop even before she goes to bed. She said she finds peace and comfort there. She felt like God was up there waiting to talk and comfort her. Is domestic work really for black women? It seems that way. Whenever some white person or others meet you and talk about work, it seems they are waiting for you to say that this is the job you are doing.

The Story Of A Boy

The Story of a Boy! By: John Dwight Marchalleck John Dwight Marchalleck was born in the parish of St. Andrew, Jamaica. At the age of three, his mother migrated to the U.S.A. and his new guardian parents, her mom and dad, became the main lifelong influence for John as reflected in The Story of a Boy! John was a happy child, growing up with his grandmother and grandfather. In this book, he reflects on hardships like drought affecting his hometown mountain village from time to time. His farmer grandfather and philanthropic grandmother were his primary tutors and idols. His grandfather was a storyteller who provided candy for the village children who stopped by to visit and listen. Like many grandchildren, John was sent away to boarding school and later to attend high school in Kingston but continued to communicate with them through written letters, a habit encouraged by his grandma. While in high school, his fondness for writing was also reflected by mystery stories John wrote and were aired on JBC (Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation). That earned the boy extra pocket money. But this fostered bad habits, as John began to frequent the billiard halls in Kingston, which prevented him from going home directly after school. This was reported to the headmaster, who meted out fifty-page homework essays for John in lieu of other detention to curb the boy’s after-school bad habits. This enhanced John’s appetite more for writing; however, rather than stop him playing billiards or frequenting the pool halls, the boy could effortlessly produce written assignments, on most given topics, free of grammatical errors. In 1963 John migrated and joined his biological mom in the U.S.A. Later, as a student at the Benjamin Franklin School of Accounting and Finance in Washington, D.C., John worked and published articles in both the National Geographic Society’s School and News Services. A long drought in writing from John came, however, but now The Story of a Boy! can be happily shared with the world.

On December 31, 1989, I began a journey of Salvation of Reflective Thoughts. A journey of emotions in my life through poetry. Emotions of nature, death, life, magic, imagination, spirituality, love, deceit, anger, hatred, lust, desire, mystery, romance, and sadness. Along the journey of Salvation of Reflective Thoughts, the emotions of utter sadness were the only emotions I felt. From all the pain, loneliness, and sadness in my life at that time, I then became, The Broken Hearted Poet. All illustrations and photography was done by The Broken Hearted Poet - Unrecay Demarko.

The poems that the LORD has been inspiring me to write have been of the types that invite the readers to come and submit their lives unto Christs Lordship. This is the only way to fit into the plan of GOD for each persons life so that one can begin living life to the fullest. It is therefore my prayer and expectation that these poems will stir up the reader to take that first step of receiving the LORD Jesus Christ as Saviour or for those already in the Kingdom of GOD, that these poems will encourage you to remain firm in your belief. When you have finished reading these poems and you experience the soothing blessing of the LORD, please, pass it on to a friend before you put it idly on the shelf.
