There was a man in a deep, deep hole; it seemed impossible for him to get out. He cried for help, but those who heard him either didnt or couldnt help him. They prayed for him, but the poor man couldnt get out until one day a brother came along who jumped down into the hole too. The man in the hole said, Brother, why did you jump down here? Now you are stuck down here with me. But the brother said, I jumped down here because I was in this hole not too long ago, and I know a secret way out. William Bradley was once the man in the hole. Now free, he offers to lend a strong hand to others with Look Where He Brought Me From. Bradley grew up in New York, spending all his money on fast cars and faster womenand then he caught his big break in the late sixties NYC music scene. With the hard partying and easy money, Bradley seemed destined for an early grave like so many talented, promising young people. Then he started listening to the messages God had been sending him throughout his life. Now in his seventieth year and the prime of his life, Bradley reflects on how the blessing and favor of the Lord let him overcome his many obstacles, and how through following the path God has set for us, we can find success without sacrificing our dreams.

YOU da MAN May 6 is when this story begins, when Walter Lewis McBride was born and raised right here in Medon, Tennessee, The beloved son of Velma Croom and Moses McBride, born in a poor family, but managed to walk in pride, He was the sixth child of number thirteen, and he proved early in life on whom they could depend. He found favor with the one Elder Johnny Marshall, who saw something special in the little lad named Walter, He went to school with his feet cold and wet, but being the smart young man he was, he figured out he could warm them by placing them inside his little hat, His education did not go beyond eighth grade. But how would we have known that with all the accomplishments in life he’s made? He was hired out by the family to help ends meet, and regardless of what he may have suffered then, he did not suffer defeat, At age eighteen, he married his childhood sweetheart, Lizzie Embary, who is still the most precious part of his memory. He found himself in World War II as a very young man, where his strength and courage would be challenged once again, We’re reminded of how this man shed tears when he realized he had to be willing to kill or be killed. He soon returned home to his wife, where Lewis was born, his first little boy. Then came Charlene their baby girl, his little bundle of joy; followed by Tilmon, Shirley, Clara, Michael, and Wayne. I know raising seven kids sometimes brought pain, Later in life came Chiquita, to their surprise, but it didn’t take long for them to see she was a jewel in disguise. He worked long and hard as a young dad, to give his family, what he never had, He took a job at the railroad tracks to provide a better life for his family and no turning back, At some point in life, he saw the saints needed a church; being the man he was, even though not the pastor, he got busy and went to work. He helped build this little church on the hill and since that time, he has never been still, He’s pastored here now for more than forty years, and I know, there has been blood, sweat, and tears. He’s instilled in the saints how to study the Word of God; to live by it and apply it to our hearts, God has blessed Bishop McBride to know the Bible from A to Z, And that mind of his ... oh how amazing to me. He’s been blessed to reach age eight-four, and we all are praying for more and more and more, He’s traveled many places in this big old world with wife, Lizzie, by his side, and sometimes their little girl, so as we travel through just a small portion of his life and also remembering his darling wife. We think of the words of President Barack Obama when we chanted, “Yes We Can!” But the saints of Whitehall Church of God say to you, “Bishop McBride, You da Man!” Penned by First Lady Sandra Hych October 2010

"The first chance I got, I bought my very first bag of crystal methamphetamine... A monster was born." "Try as I might, there is simply no way for me to minimize the impact with which crystal meth slammed into my life, at least not without straying far from the truth. It was like throwing a forty-pound sledge hammer though a plate glass window." "What a cunning thing this was that lived inside of me. How could I ever hope to win against it? My good intentions meant nothing what I lacked was power." Meth Monster is the autobiographical story of one gay African American man's personal journey to faith and deliverance from drugs and alcohol, and particularly from the scourge of crystal methamphetamine. The author takes his readers through his troubled early years in Indiana, hustling on the streets of Hollywood, and dealing drugs in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. Blaine boldly examines his personal demons from the time they take up residence in his subconscious and through their horrific and destructive manifestations. After numerous visits to jails, prisons and rehab, and after finally confronting his addiction, his sexuality, AIDS and a broken spirit, at last he finds redemption, healing and forgiveness through the grace and mercy of The Living God.

In the final volume of AMERICAN ECSTASY, written by Raguan Z. Faust (aka August Franza), Luke Hall, the man/eagle, baptizes himself for new and possibly more hopeful roles. He conjures Rachel Landauer, an old girlfriend, and flies west with her to experience a series of encounters with America, past and present. These include chemical and environmental pollution, industrial strikes, transcontinental railroad building and many scenes of mental derangement. He also meets Col. George A. Custer, P.T. Barnum, Leon Trotsky, Whittaker Chambers and Alger Hiss in the strangest of circumstances. After many bizarre adventures, Luke ends up teaching at a suspect College of the 21st Century. Around and around he goes in conflict with all manner of men and women, until he meets Zamattia Ueberruaga, a Basque-American woman of many delights. Luke is finally grounded. He gives up his eagle life and all of its derangements to settle down with a woman he loves and who loves him.

In this deeply moving and original book, John Banville alloys mystery, fable, and ghost story with poignant psychological acuity to forge the riveting story of a man wary of the future, plagued by the past, and so uncertain in the present that he cannot discern the spectral from the real. When renowned actor Alexander Cleave was a boy living in a large house with his widowed mother and various itinerant lodgers, he encountered a strikingly vivid ghost of his father. Now that he’s fifty and has returned to his boyhood home to recover from a nervous breakdown on stage, he is not surprised to find the place still haunted. He is surprised, however, at the presence of two new lodgers who have covertly settled into his old roost. And he is soon overwhelmed by how they, coupled with an onslaught of disturbing memories, compel him to confront the clutter that has become his life: ruined career, tenuous marriage, and troubled relationship with an estranged daughter destined for doom.

The remaining chapters present short stories by Elisabeth Langgässer (1899-1950), Anna Seghers (1900- ), Marie Luise Kaschnitz (1901-1974), Luise Rinser (1911- ), Ilse Aichinger (1921- ), Barbara König (1925- ), Ingeborg Bachmann (1926-1973), Christa Reinig (1926- ), Christa Wolf (1929- ), Gabriele Wohmann (1932- ), Helga Novak (1935- ), Gisela Elsner (1937- ), Elisabeth Meylan (1937- ), and Angelika Mechtel (1943- ).
