Here is the most comprehensive guide to the restoration, renovation, and development history of all V-twins (1965-2000) from the company that author Mick Walker confidently--perhaps controversially--describes as "Italy's most glorious marque." An invaluable guide to the many engineering re-designs, technical modifications, and re-styling exercises carried out on the V-twin Moto Guzzi over years. This volume is packed with technical data unavailable from any other single source, from Ing. Giulio Carcano's 1965 V7--a sensation at the 39th International Milan Show--to the V11SS 6-speed gearbox. And in between? More than 50 models, heavyweights and middleweights, custom cruisers and off-roaders, engine and gearbox stripdown, electrics, fuel injection analysis, model recognition, model years, performance kits--even specialized workshop tools. Nothing is overlooked in the quest for your perfect Guzzi.

MZ's reputation has been built-up upon "value for money" for the road rider and success in motorcycle sport; notably road racing and long distance trials. The magic of MZ was largely due to the involvement of Dip. Ing. Walter Kaaden, who sadly passed away on 3rd March 1996, aged 76 years. To Kaaden must go the title of the world's greatest ever 2-stroke engineer. Of course, before MZ came DKW, an equally famous name, and really this book is the story of both these two great marques from Zschopau in Southern Saxony. The book also covers Simson and the new era with the Skorpion.

Before the /5 series, BMW had a reputation for producing expensive and idiosyncratic touring motorcycles. But the /5 changed that. Although still expensive, the market was opened to a new world of riders, and during the 1970s the air-cooled boxer evolved into the ground-breaking R90S and R100RS. These were amongst the first motorcycles with factory-fitted fairings and they also offered class-leading performance. Even when BMW decided to discontinue the twins in favour of the new four-cylinder K-series in 1984, demand for the older boxers forced BMW to reconsider. The boxer was resurrected and continued for more than a decade.

The Laverda Twins and Triples Bible provides a detailed history of this innovative and daring Italian manufacturer and the bikes they built. Laverda has acquired a following of almost fanatical proportions. The large capacity twins and triples were some of the most charismatic and exciting motorcycles produced in a golden era. With a successful endurance racing programme publicising them, Laverda's twins soon earned a reputation for durability that wasn't usually associated with Italian machinery. Originally built for the British market, the 1000cc Jota was the fastest Superbike available in its day. While the twins faded before the end of the 1970s, the triples continued for almost another decade before dying with a whimper. By this time the company was in serious difficulty and went into receivership. Despite a resurrection in the 1990s, it is the classic twins and triples of the late 1960s through until the mid-1980s that Laverda is now famous for.
