There are many types of gifts. You can give a big, shiny, wrapped gift on Christmas morning, but you can also give the gifts of your help or your time. You can bake a cake for your parents or share what you learned in school with your little sister. You can help a friend unravel a knotty bracelet or smile at a stranger who looks sad. With a spirit of generosity, you'll find you have many gifts to give to the world--and that giving can be even more fulfilling than receiving. Featuring a die-cut cover and interior flaps throughout, My Little Gifts celebrates the gift of giving. The Growing Hearts series celebrates the milestones of a toddler's emotional development, from conquering fears and expressing feelings to welcoming a new sibling.

In the early part of 2012, my dad and I published A Father and Son Book of Poetry and Prose. Now in the late summer of 2017, I am very delighted to share more of what my dad and I have to offer the world through A Father-and-Son Book of Poetry and Prose: Volume II. This is especially for my dad, who passed away in June of this year. I recall some time ago telling him he should make an effort to get his work published. This did not seem to be a great concern of his, but he always enjoyed writing, drawing humorous cartoons, painting on occasion, and simply sharing his creative side with family and friends. I am incredibly grateful to him, and I know I speak for my brothers and my mom too. So I have made it my concern to publish everything I found and know that he has written through poetry. He is the one that instilled in me an interest in writing and poetry that has lasted for many years now and continues to do so. This creative side of his opened a dimension of creativity to me not just in writing but in all facets of the world around us. He always had an interesting perspective on things that he was not shy about expressing. He was a lifelong Democrat, for instance. At a high school football banquet, one of the other dads, who was also a Democrat, wanted to share a little political banter with my dad. The other dad was basically criticizing everything about the current Republican administration. He figured my dad would comfortably agree with everything he was saying. No way. Although a fellow Democrat, my dad challenged him on every point. He would do this with regularity. He would hear one perspective but was very good at understanding and expressing why the other guy might feel differently. Another little story I recall goes back a little further to my grade-school days. My mom, myself, and brothers had just gotten in the door from church. Dad had stayed behind to do a little painting around the house. I began sharing how excited I was that my mom had gotten me a new book. He chimed in almost immediately, reminding me how thankful I should be because some kids were not able to receive little gifts from their parents on a consistent basis or at all because they did not have the means. This stopped me in my thoughts, humbled me, and made me think more deeply about life even though I was a young little whippersnapper. I wish with all my heart I could share this second volume with him and squeeze him with all my might. He is no longer here, but a part of him lives on through my mom and brothers. I wish you could have met him too, but through his poetry, I am so glad you can get to know a piece of him as well. My earthly father is gone now, but as I observe more closely how my heavenly Father allows for the seasons of life to continue and all the legacy and lessons that pertain to this, I am truly a blessed and thankful man.

One can almost hear the whispers in the dark, and the howling of ancient wolves as they seek their respite between the pages of Madame''''s magical novel. Mmoires Of A Mad Vampire is a semi-autobiographical novel based on the life and experience of the author, Madame Elisandrya De Sade. Spanning several continents and centuries, the work reads like fiction, yet for those that know her well, the question remains clear... Just how much is fact, versus fiction? Intriguing, stimulating, exotic, and taboo, the book''''s many chapters often begin with poetry or prose, further stirring the reader''''s imagination to take part in what has proven to be an awe-inspiring journey through eras past.

Meet the family where the Little Flower took root. In her Story of a Soul, St. Therese relates how influential her family life was in forming her spiritual life. Now, the canonization of her parents Louis and Zelie and the cause for the beatification of her sister Léonie speak volumes for the robust sanctity of the Martin family. The Martins took no smooth path to sanctity. They endured the loss of four children, financial troubles, and the cancer that caused Zelie’s death. The key to their success was simply this: love. With love, they endured both great sorrows and the countless little troubles of everyday life. This is the story of a husband, wife, and five daughters who formed a close-knit, thoroughly Catholic family. Their lives set an example for anyone who seeks to raise a family in love, and to live the Faith in daily life.

Grateful Caretakers Of God S Many Gifts

Author: Joseph M. Champlin
Editor: Liturgical Press

Size: 10,49 MB

The message of stewardship invites us to give our time, talent, and treasure in gratitude for our abundant blessings. Fostering grateful caretakers in parishes is an ongoing task that requires vision, courage, and trust. In Grateful Caretakers of God's Many Gifts, the first major revision of Fr. Joseph Champlin's ground-breaking sacrificial giving program, Father Champlin continues to encourage the sharing of treasure, time, and talent--transforming parishioners into grateful caretakers of God's many gifts. Grateful Caretakers of God's Many Gifts provides a theological and biblical basis for stewardship and gives detailed guidance for sharing time, talent, and treasure. It also offers the history, foundational principles, and implementation steps for sacrificial giving, a form of stewardship. The manual likewise provides a wealth of material for sustaining and strengthening grateful caretaking in a parish on a long-term basis. Finally, it offers practical suggestions on a number of special issues in stewardship including accountability, annual renewals, customized direct deposit of Sunday offerings, planned giving and parish stewardship councils, and training our youth to share. Father Champlin shows that the sacrificial giving process effectively supports grateful caretakers of God's gifts: people in the parish willing to share significantly their time, talent, and treasure for the Church and the world. It has been proven in practice, is biblically and theologically sound, actively involves lay persons, touches the hearts of parishioners, is uncomplicated and inexpensive to implement, produces impressive short-term results, and provides long-term possibilities. Grateful Caretakers ofGod's Many Gifts builds on Father Champlin's original sacrificial giving publications in both the theory and practice of how to motivate parishioners to become active stewards of their faith. It has on-going value for those concerned about fostering grateful caretaking in a parish.
