Following a thorough examination of every biblical text on tithing, Dr. Kelly concludes that the church would be best served spiritually by believing and applying better New Testament principles of giving. After discussing sound biblical reasons for Christians to replace tithing, he presents God's better principles of grace. Doctrines such as the New Testament concept of law and covenant and the priesthood of believers are presented as they affect tithing. Following several chapters which discuss disputed texts relating to pastoral support, this book traces the early development of church support as found in the Church Fathers before Nicea. This book leaves no question or objection about tithing unanswered. It is a "must read" for any serious Bible student. There is a wealth of other doctrinal insights to be gained as one goes through the Bible in search of the truth about tithing.

Seventh-day Adventism entices members into it using trickery and half-truths. They tell the unenlightened public one thing and insiders yet another. Dr. Kelly explains how he was tricked into joining. He then refutes the theological fiasco called the Investigative Judgment which created the sect. Much of the book looks at the Sabbath with fresh insight. The final part reveals the mysterious realms of Sheol and Hades in order to expose SDA error about the soul. Russell Kelly is also the author of Should the Church Teach Tithing? A Theologian's Conclusions about a Taboo Doctrine-a best seller on Amazon.com under "Tithing" since 2001.

Five hundred years ago Martin Luther posted his ninety-five theses or grievances to the door of the All Saints' Church of Wittenberg and condemned the Catholic Church's teaching of indulgences as nothing but a scheme to raise money for the church. It is a supreme irony of history that, five hundred years later, it is now a subset of the Protestant Church that is defrauding the faithful. The Catholic Church's teaching of indulgences and the evangelical movement's teaching of tithing-to-be-blessed are substantially the same and lead to the same result: In both cases, the church walks away with a bag of money and the Christian walks away with a bag full of empty promises. This book explains why I am losing faith in the church, but finding faith in Christ. The reason for this is that I began finding answers to some of the most elusive questions about God. Something is preventing God from doing all the good that he would otherwise want to do. But here is the problem. How can God have limitations? If he has limitations, then he must not be divine. However, there is one thing that could prevent a good, all-powerful God from doing all the good that he would otherwise want to do that would not detract at all from his omnipotence. What this is and how it holds the key to unlocking some of the most perplexing mysteries of God is explained in this book.

This insightful book exposes the lies, coercion, and fear tactics used by Christian churches to get people to tithe. To say that the curse of the tithing law even exists today is a lie. This teaching conflicts with the truth stated in Galatians 3:13. The teaching that tithing is required today to obtain blessings with the emphasis on material blessings has caused many to become less spiritual minded and more materialistic. But this teaching is also a lie and conflicts with Galatians 3:14. Tithing promoters spew out untruths against non-tithers to demonize them and silence any opposition to their false teachings. Today's false prosperity gospel has transformed the gospel of grace into the gospel of greed. Most disgraceful of all, the many lies that Christian leaders utilize to dupe the poorest and most vulnerable in society out of the little money they do have, causes many of the poorest to sink even deeper into debt. Time and time again, tithing promoters fail to line up with the word of God. One lie is that tithing demands ten percent of income, when in fact, the amount should be considerably less. What can we do to change this heresy? Encourage honesty within your own church, and urge people to turn away from lies and walk in the truth.

Tithing is an interesting subject, and often one of controversy. While tithing is certainly a biblical concept, some churches teach that it is commanded of Christians, and some teach that it isn't. What does the Bible teach regarding tithing under the New Covenant? In this new book, Author Sharmi Bhalla examines this topic under the microscope of God’s Word and tries to find the connection between tithing and the grace of God. She discusses this topic in a riveting and articulate manner drawing from both the Old and New Testament books.

This booklet sets out to quickly demonstrate the complexity of tithing and why it should not be appropriated in the church. It reaches into the ancient customs and practices, the Mosaic Law, Malachi and The New Testament. I find it alarming, that certain ministry has successfully introduced an unscriptural and summarised version into the church. The teaching of tithing finds no place in the New Covenant. I hear a familiar sound; the pump priming for collection time. Not a collection for the saints, but a collection from the saints. A spiel of the blessings one would receive as a result from paying your ministers to hear the Word of God. This commandment is called tithing. Tithing is leaving many confused and scratching for funds to avoid condemnation. I rarely notice joy at this time but rather the forced grin of obedience. The Pentecostal tithing teaching holds strong ties with the Old Covenant way of life. Materialistic gain being the proof of our favour with God. Does this hold true to New Covenant living? I am surprised that tithing is still accepted by many churches all over the world. It is regarded by many as an infallible biblical truth.

"Tithing is biblical but not Christian." So asserts Dr. Stuart Murray in this radical examination of the contemporary practice of tithing in which the author comes to some surprising conclusions. Stuart Murray clearly explains tithing in the Old Testament and in Christian history, but then probes further, asking penetrating questions such as: "Is tithing Christian?" "Did Jesus tithe?" "Does tithing function as a regressive tax, burdening the poor while the rich get richer?" "Does tithing lead to a legalistic approach that alienates us from Jesus?" The author suspects that a lot of the current lack of interest in the church stems from deep-seated memories of the church as oppressive, uncreative, and money-grabbing. In response we should therefore learn not to calculate percentages but explore creative ways of developing communities of justice and generosity that are good news to the poor. Beyond Tithing will stimulate your thinking and challenge the dominant influence of the practice of tithing as the model for Christian stewardship.

Some have said that the word "scam" is too strong for a book that argues against the church's most sacred cow, but "scam" is exactly the right word because tithing has been put forth as a duty that will earn that which Christ suffered and died to freely give us. Not only is it wrong to suggest that tithing will do what Christ died to do, such as open heaven or make one right with God, but such teaching is an insult to His sacrifice and in reality, an enemy to the Cross even as circumcision was in the early church. Our ministers have been naively leading the church back under the Old Testament Law, and its curse, with imagined tithing promises that have gone way beyond even that which Malachi promised. Under the guise of "obedience, faithfulness and stewardship," we've been duped into believing we must prove ourselves without realizing that practicing the Law (tithing) blocks us from becoming sons and heirs according to Galatians 4: 5. Do you know that The book of Malachi was never intended to be instruction to the New Testament church? All the ordinances in Malachi (including tithing) were nailed to Jesus' cross, according to Colossians chapter 2? Tithing is part of the Law according to Matt. 23: 23, Malachi 3: 7, and Hebrews 7: 18? The practice of tithing, the Law, can expose you to the "curse of the Law" causing incurable sicknesses, debt, death, and many other problems, according to the Apostle Paul in Galatians 3: 10? The practice of tithing actually removes you from the state of grace and places you back the category of "sinner"? Hebrews 5: 4 Tithing causes you to "frustrate the grace of God," and causes "Christ to profit you nothing"? Galatians 2: 21 and 5: 2 Making tithing a practicetoday actually causes the New Testament to become "another gospel" according to Paul in Galatians 1: 6? Order The Great Tithing Scam today and find out what else tithing will or won't do.

Giving was very important in the churches I grew up in and tithing was without a doubt, paramount. The pastor made sure we understood the difference between tithes and offerings and how the tithe was "a mandatory tax" and the offering was above and beyond the tithe. It was explicitly clear that the tithe was not an offering. I never totally agreed with the tithe teaching, but it was part of the fundamentals of Christianity and I had to accept it. After I got married and had two young sons, I went to church two to three times a week and all day on Sunday. Have you ever wondered why some churches pass the offering bucket when it's time to give, while other churches have the people stand and walk around to give? This is because the leadership understands that when people are made to stand publicly and walk around and pass the offering basket, they are put in a position of embarrassment if they have nothing to give, and it works like a charm! Most people are paid on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. However, the tithe is requested during every service and separate from the offering in many churches. This is also done purposefully. Even though many members pay their tithes during Sunday Service, the request being made during weekly services places more pressure for members to give although they have already given. I've seen the most egregious abuses in Church regarding money: getting paid for prophesies, reading Scriptures on the punishment for breaking vows, and emphasizing living under the curse for not paying "the tax of the tithe." In hindsight, I cannot believe some of the errors pertaining to finances that I've witnessed in church. They do happen and continue to occur. In 2002, I started a new church. And like every other church in America, I continued to teach the doctrine of tithing. Some of my members struggled with giving ten percent of their income, while others, like me, had been indoctrinated and conditioned to do so for so long that we gave without hesitation. I was determined to take up only one offering during any service instead of the multiple offerings I had grown up witnessing and I was accustomed to. As a pastor, I did not take up two offerings for the tithe and the offering, but took both at the same time. I hated that so much of church was about money and I did not want my members feeling the same way I felt when I attended church. So I spent as little time as possible on giving. There were even services that I did not solicit finances from the people. However, in the end this still proved to be only baby steps in the right direction. It wasn't until I went through a season where I lost everything and in my anger towards God about my misfortune, that He challenged me to question everything I ever believed in and completely start over. Many of us grew up in religious environments that frowned upon leadership being questioned about anything. As a result, we have that same attitude with our Heavenly Father. However, if we are not asking questions, we are not learning. God does not have a problem with us asking questions. As a student of the Word of God I began to ask the Holy Spirit about everything taught to me by the church and this journey has lead to many of the books I have published. A Revelation of Tithing came from this experience. May the truth set you free.
